Spoof of many sci-fi movies. Creature itself is reminiscent of the creature in Alien. Also reminds me a little of the creature in Pumpkinhead. Much less 'real' looking in appearance. Spoof of the movie Psycho shower scene. As the monster walks down the street, a military man yells 'bombs, tanks, planes, nothing...' which is a spoof of War of the Worlds as our weapons proved useless against the invaders. The kindly professor, Henry Gibson, attempts to communicate using a xylophone, playing the musical notes from the famous scene of Close Encounters of a Third Kind. The creature seems to respond by extending and retracting its inner 'Alien' type mouth in and out to the beat of the xylophone. When we learn that the existence of closets give this creature energy, we are all told to destroy all closets. This is a great scene, as people all over the world are tearing their closets to pieces. Good for laughs. Not serious at all.

Some people have complained that this film is one of the worst ever made, and that may be true, but it has distinct cult appeal. This is a film for anyone who has ever faced their worst nightmares and realised they weren't so bad after all. Watch in horror as the worst movie of the eighties becomes the cult hit of the nineties. And the xylophone sequence! A real gem!

This movie is the best horror-spoof ever! My friends and I laughed and laughed. The way the movie ends is totally unpredictable and so silly that it is actually quite clever. If you didn't like this movie, you have no sense of humor.

I couldn't stop smiling during the whole movie, except when I was laughing so loud that I woke up everyone in our house. It's silly and you need to have humor to enjoy it and I really recommend you should see it then. Before this movie I believed horror-movies don't need to be ridiculed, in order to be funny! (It was before I have seen "Army of darkness")

One of the best and worst movies created ever. I think even a blind dog could make a film better than this. But this film makes you laugh so much that you could get stomachtrouble. Monster in the closet, or Skapulf in norwegian is clearly a 10!

This is in response to the remark of this being the worst movie ever. This is a very fun movie. Not at all meant to be taken seriously. (To the other guy who commented about the doctor playing the xylophone to kill the monster, If you even paid any attention to the film the doctor was trying to communicate with him not kill him...big difference there). I especially liked the the main character and what happens whenever his glasses come off. I highly recommend it to anyone. This is one of the few Troma films that can be watched by the whole family!!!
