Mesrine: Killer Instinct

I've said it all. This movie comes in two parts. Most if not all events are traceable. It's around 4 hours divided by two movies. And it's absolutely worth every minute. A serious masterpiece in writing, acting, directing everything.

If guns and murder are your thing then you will like this movie but, this movie has no story to tell. It is crimes and violence then jail time and plotting. The character development is non-existent and the film's continuity stumbles at times. Vincent Cassel plays a one dimensional psycho. Gerard Depardieu is great. Elena Anaya stole my heart. If you are hoping for a movie like The Connection, this isn't it, it has no style.

I have seen this film a total of 150 times since release. Sounds sad but hey I love watch movies. The film(s) from start to finish are excellent, An excellent cast, soundtrack....I get totally addited to films and this one is in my top ten all time......Watch La Haine also as another sterling performance from VInz...... As for Hollywood, well enough said...good for a blockbuster but thats it....too many films are fake in terms of script, actors and general plot. 10/10 for Mesrine, an absolute gem of a film

I would suggest watching it just to understand how a director has the power to ruin a very promising plot and make really good actors come out as mediocre. It's not a bad movie but it isn't a great one either. Just mediocre. If you're into action/gangster movies, I would suggest you watching Goodfellas or Casino or Black Mass instead. This is nowhere near any of them. Dommage!

This is what the Godfather hoped to be. A tale of people empowered by brutality and greed with little or no interest in the consequences. All of the Hollywood rubbish pales by comparison to this..to name but a few..Public Enemy No1..the Godfather trilogy mess...the ridiculous Black Mass..the list goes on. this is a million miles better than anything Hollywood can churn out..acted and filmed perfectly , this is a semi biopic and semi gangster tale which proves you do not have to be a big movie house to make big movies. Throw away your Godfather dvds and get this on your shelf.
