In "Malicious Mind Games," the pacing was laboriously slow, and the characters did not seem to be connecting with each other. It felt like a COVID film with everyone separated by 6 feet of social distancing. The mother-daughter relationship of Isabelle and Rosaline was not very convincing. Isabelle was a widow, yet she and the daughter did not seem to miss their loved one very much. The two characters seemed more like sisters than a mom and her daughter. The conceit of the film was that Isabelle was having visions of violent scenes. Eventually, she actually witnesses a murder. But the audience could not differentiate the genuine murder scene from the other visions. The motivation for Megan killing her twin sister Celine was not clearly defined. In her own words, she "just snapped." And yet she seems to snap frequently, nearly killing the owner of the theater Cameron and the kind English teacher Henry. And her attempt to set fire to the theater with both Isabelle and Rosaline tied up was a clear act of premeditated murder. Let's hope Megan gets the help that she desperately needs! Overall, the film was disappointing in the lack credibility. Even the rehearsal scene for "Twelfth Night" was not believable. The young actors reading their lines sounded just about as lackadaisical as the line readings of the characters in the principal narrative. Despite the likable cast, this film was a stinker.
I can find no redeeming qualities for this movie, except that the cast is attractive. The story is poorly written and boring. The plot is silly. The actors couldn't make me believe the sky is blue, and I know the sky is blue. April Hale (Isabel) always has a startled look on her face, and throughout the movie her eyes look as if they are going to pop out of her head. One of her worse lines in the movie is when she tells her daughter not to expect her to buy a certain expensive item because "I don't love you like that". What did that even mean. She loves her daughter less than whatever dollars that item cost. There was kind of an awkwardness between mother and daughter. They didn't appear comfortable in their roles. I kept wondering if they even liked each other. Ryan Youngwoong Kim was like a pop up. He popped up whenever Isabel, I suppose, beckoned him. He seemed confused all the time. There is no explanation as to why Isabel has hallucinations. I guess we are to deduce it is because of the energy drinks. This movie is not a thriller. It's a waste of time.
I very much enjoyed watching this film. Great plot and story twist the whole movie. Enjoyed the anticipation and figuring out what will happen next! I often enjoy the lifetime movies since they are thrillers and just keep us on edge most times. I'm hopeful for a sequel of this at some point in the future.
Malicious Mind Games might just be my favorite Lifetime Movie yet. The plot is really amazing and it is really interesting. All of the actors did amazing and all of the characters were great and super developed. Th e suspense and thrills of this movie make it even better. It isn't just a bunch of wall to wall jumpscares, it actually took an appropriate time to get to the horror. The score is really amazing and dark. If you want to see a movie with a perfect score, good actors, good characters, a good plot, and enough suspense and thrills, then Malicious Mind Games is the perfect movie for you.
Flawed script, The plot is surreal. To say the least the plot is puerile and asinine and it is well evident throughout the 183 minutes. Portraits are awful and it seems just like moving in front of the camera being creeping upon a convenience store for nothing. Nothing coherent in editing as it goes astray from the beginning to end. What a waste of time to be calling it a movie!
What kind of a name is SVS?!?! Just this should be enough to keep You away from this God awful movie.. Bland script, dull plot, childish and artificial acting, HORRIBLE editing... oh Lord!! I think I wrote this in another review: how empty is my life for me to sit through this entire pile of manure?!? The credits only last 1.30 minute.. even crappy films' credits take up at least 5 minutes. Who put money in this pit?!?
I felt nostalgia watching this. Similar to Detective Conan season 1 cases. Only this time it's a real-life person trying to crack the mystery. There are some laughing points which are hilarious. You'll know who's the jokester, who's behaving weird, and the culprit's motive. Satisfying.
