Legendary Idol Eriko

This is the best anime series I have ever seen, music is fabulous, maybe the real protagonist! If you like shoujo and Japanese pop music, you'll love this! The character's design is beautiful, the story is narrated in a realistic way (no magical girls): the ups and downs of a young girl in her personal struggle to become an idol singer. What can I say about the music? It is better to listen to it! So if you can find the OST for this series, just play it and enjoy! I am beyond surprised to see so few things mentioning this Anime on the internet. It's animation is obviously dated, when compared to modern titles, however every wide scenery has a great deal of personality, and is visually intimidating, well identifying with the events that occur during each scene. The drawn characters are very detailed, with some exceptions, and the animation can be choppy, but only sparingly. When clips are repeated they use it to portray a certain emotion, or idea, seldom out of apparent necessity. Any performance artist or singer can sympathize with the themes and stories present, that provide an excellent look into the struggles that come with the intensive training it takes to pursue artistic professionalism, of which is borderline masochistic. Besides the dance and music expertise expected of an idol, the story is not single minded, and becomes extremely dark just in the first few episodes. It involves personal (family related) tragedy, physical and emotional abuse, defying societal norms, imposing romantic expectations, separation from childhood friends/home, and all the struggles expected of a 14 year old in such a massive industry such as music. The backstabbery, and arbitrary hatred for the young talent of Eriko very much denies her personal reality that comes with fame, both from within and outside the music industry. Saying this would be slept on is an understatement, people need to wake up from their coma, and take a look at this story telling masterpiece.
