This movie is really so fantastic 😊 8/10 it gives you the chills and real adventure of science
source: Ice Twisters
The government uses drones to create and seed clouds that turn all Frankenstein into ice twisters. Only Charlie (Mark Moses) an ex-scientist and fiction writer without a clearance can save the world. Luisa D'Oliveira is our token hot Asian chick. Blah, blah blah. This is a made for US TV movie using the standard formula for disaster films. I was bored within the first two minutes and it never let up.
The only difference is that instead of a corrupt oil man there's a corrupt government agent and instead of the hunk that saves the day, it's a rude old man that kinda saves the day. The only reason to watch this is to play a drinking game where every time they say "serif", you take a shot. What's a serif? "A slight projection finishing off a stroke of a letter in certain typefaces",
This movie was entertaining to watch with excellent performances by the cast and a script that was well written. The cinematography was also good despite some mistakes but the special effects could have been done better.
"Charlie Price" (Mark Moses) is a former scientist who has quit his profession in order to write science-fiction books. One day while at a book signing ceremony in a small Oregon town the weather suddenly changes and a tornado rips through the main street. Not long afterward he notices a former colleague named "Joanne" (Camille Sullivan) taking water samples and immediately connects the bizarre change in weather to her sudden appearance . After coaxing her and another scientist by the name of "Frank" (Robert Moloney) he finds out that they work for the Federal Science Foundation and that that have indeed been manipulating the weather as part of their research. Yet, while they have been able to change the weather they gradually realize that they cannot control it and this leads to disastrous consequences. At any rate, rather than detail the rest of the story and risk spoiling the film for those who haven't seen it, I will just say that even though the formula was pretty standard it was a fun movie all the same. Naturally, as a made-for-television movie there really isn't anything too graphic or risqué but then it wasn't necessary anyway. Although I didn't care for the rather far-fetched ending I thought that the overall action and special effects were essentially okay and the actors played their parts pretty well. That said, while this certainly isn't a great movie by any means I still found it to be a satisfactory movie all the same and I have rated it accordingly. Average.
For what Ice Twisters is worth, it's not bad, this is one of the better Syfy tornado films. While the plot does remind you of Storm Chasers: Revenge of the Twister (if you've seen it) this film focuses on the characters working together to resolve a major issue rather than a personal struggle around a tragedy. The CGI is a noteworthy improvement (given the standards of Syfy) and the steady pacing keeps you watching. I can't say too much about character development since I was more focused on the plot and action. Ice Twisters is a good B movie, in the end I felt satisfied since I didn't feel bored at any point while watching the movie.
Most days, I've learned to avoid SyFy channel movies. Most are utter garbage . . . this one was pretty decent. Many of the reviews note the similarity with Twister, and there is some of that. They then added in a few of the standard themes of SyFy movies, mostly the pseudo-science that fills most of these types of films, whether done for release in the cinema or released straight-to-video/TV. Still, they mostly made the premise work in this one. The result was a engaging story with some pretty good (and some awful) FX. Most of the acting was pretty good, with Mark Moses and Ryan Kennedy providing strong performances. In conclusion, I would watch it again given the opportunity.
