OK. Even though the Broken Lizard guys had a sweet cameo, I thought this was a pretty good movie! The characters were believable, and the acting was very good! The MarkHarmonGhia bit was great,as well as the the K-9 aids benefit! Solid acting from some Broken Lizard vets, as well as Dave Foley who was great. Overall a cool, fun flick. Give it a shot. It's not the greatest movie, but not the worst either. Had a couple of good LOL lines. Jane Seymour was great as the evil real estate agent, and the * shoot in the mansion was classic Broken Lizard. To be honest, those scenes really helped lift the movie. Like I said, if you want a few cheap laughs with an actually good story for a comedy, check it out. Joe
Overall, Freeloaders is a pretty solid, basic comedy. It doesn't try very hard, and it uses the Broken Lizard name as a shield to prevent people from complaining too much. My biggest issue is with the music however, none of the music matches the scenes they accompany. The background music is weird and boring. But some great cameos and some clever witty dialogue save what would otherwise be a lot more of a flop. Some of the humor tries way too hard to be over-the-top gross but falls flat, and there could have been half the main freeloading characters. Halfway there, it seems everyone involved just gave up. I think that if Broken Lizard had had a larger hand in the production, it would have been a quality addition to their stable of comedies. As is, it's a diversion while you're waiting for something better to come along.
I love all BLs movies so I was looking forward to this since I first heard about it a couple of years ago, but I was surprised to see a rating of 1.6 on IMDb (gone up to 2.5 today). Well if like me you were looking forward to BLs newest offering, prepare to be disappointed, it's only produced by them and isn't written by them, directed by them or starring them and it doesn't have any of that BL flavour with the exception of the one scene that they are in. Overall the movie isn't too bad and it will kill an hour and a bit of your time, but that's about it. The story is predictable with no real surprises and there's no real laugh out loud moments. The cast are all pretty good but there's just not a whole lot for them to do. And if you're an Olivia Munn fan, she's only in it for about 2 minutes. Maybe some people will like it more than me, although judging by the IMDb rating I wouldn't bet on it, but overall the film just left me with a sense of 'meh!'
Yet another hilarious film from the Broken Lizards (Super Troopers). The premise is quite original. It's about a group of slackers who have been living off of a rock star... And suddenly find themselves in a jam when the rock star decides to sell his house and kick them out. Jane Seymour is great as the pushy real estate broker. Over all, the cast is great and very funny. They have a lot of chemistry together and there are a lot of surprise guest appearances. I don't want to give too much away but I was surprised as to how many cameos this film had. It's a fun movie. It is definitely worth the watch if you are in the mood for an R rated comedy!
