A very fine movie. It is a movie of De Niro. There's a little blame put on him by people that there was not much space for other characters. Of course without him this movie wouldn't have been watchable. There is a scene I remember where he pulls up his pant a little for the girl who tries to hangout with him for money, while he was waiting for his son to return outside his apartment. This kind of light scenes are becoming rare in Hollywood movies nowadays. It was prevalent in Thirties', Fortis, fifties or even in sixties and seventies. With recent movies like "The Intern" and "Everybody's fine", Hollywood seems to be gearing for family drama movies with everyday lives of simple people. A kind of movie surge seen only in animated movies. It's a welcome move for me. I like the movies like 'The Apartment(1959)' very much.

So I watched 2009' Everybody's fine, starring Robert Deniro, well was it fine well yeah I guess. This is not a movie I will rant and rave about. It has an all star cast and an indie feel to it, and isn't too sappy. I liked it, I didn't love it but felt it was decent. It is a road tale, and a story about a family becoming closer, and grieving, and dying, and living, and sometimes hiding our true selves from the ones we most love. This is a remake of a very highly regarded Italian film I hope to see someday, I think it would be nice to compare the two. As far as should you see it, well I guess if you are not the sensitive type you can skip, I personally think it is a good date movie, it has things that appeal to both sexes, and can almost cause a tear to well up at times, but you know I am too much a man for that to happen. if you like concise reviews of interesting films please read my other reviews at http://raouldukeatthemovies.blogspot.com/

So as seen on the poster, this movie has a great cast: Robert De Niro, Sam Rockwell, Kate Beckinsale, and Drew Barrymore. However, the supporting characters are on screen for only a short while, and your mostly going to see little old Bobby. Of course this isn't necessarily a bad thing, since De Niro is great as usual. It's a story of an old widower who is trying to reconnect with his kids. It's sort of like About Schmidt (2002), but doesn't have the same effect as the other movie. It gets sad towards the end, and the final scene is sort of sappy, but it just isn't as powerful as the other movie I mentioned. The plot is decent enough, a person story and the acting is great (though there could be more Rockwell. There could always be more Rockwell). It's just missing a little something. It's not bad, but I recommend seeing About Schmidt instead if you want to see a film about a sad, lonely old man.
