Employee of the Month is actually not a good movie. I'll tell you why. First of all, it supposed to be funny. It wasn't. Secondly, it supposed to be great. It wasn't. And last but not least, it supposed to be a good movie? It wasn't. The movie idea maybe was okay, but the delivery was bad. It's like a cheap entertainment. Like you are going to see a great circus artists but you only see a clown who can't juggle. So many plot holes. So kids stuff. Children should see this one, because they find it entertaining and they may think that's how people work at supermarket. But people like me and you, know how the real work goes. I guess. Dane Cook is the only positive thing about this movie. A funny actor with a fast-paced text. Oh, and there was Jessica Simpson in the movie. Right, she didn't do anything, she just was. Employee of the month equals idiot of the month here. Seriously. This movie is pretty much a waste of time.
It was ab enjoyable movie, all the actors seem to play off well. Our story begins at a convenient store where Vince has been Employee of the Month 18 times, and there's Zack a box boy who bosses are lucky he does any work, Vince constantly mocks Zack because he is on more on top than Zack is. Then comes the beautiful Amy, it is rumored that she has a thing for Employee of the Month, now Zack has to get his together on the job in hopes to get Employee of the Month and hopefully get the girl, but will Vince bet him to it? This was an enjoyable comedy. There was funny jokes and enjoyable slap-stick. Believe me you will not be bored.
I saw this movie expecting to see Dane Cook at his finest, but instead got a pathetic shadow of what he once was. Basically, his character in no way reflected Dane's persona and could have been played by any actor. I was extremely disappointed and now have to convince myself that Dane hasn't gone soft, but instead did this movie to make money and bang Jessica Simpson. This way I can remain a fan of his stand-up. The only thing funny about this movie was Andy Dick, the relationship between Dax and Pedro, and Jessica Simpson's horrible acting abilities. Honestly I never let out more then a closed-mouth chuckle throughout the entire film. I beg of you, unless you enjoy paying for crap, don't see this movie.
What the hell.. Its the exact same movie. Only in a different setting. Zack Is happy Gilmore Great relationship with his grandma. Same as happy. Vince Is shooter mcgavin. Wants the girl. Won't get her. Happy/Zack gets her.. Its so similar in so many things I'm not gonna get into it. I still liked it tho I'll give it a 7.
All hell breaks loose in this Super Club store when a new female employee is rumored to like ambitious men who become employee of the month, thus leading to two co-workers competing to win her attention. The idea was good, but sometimes it just comes off average and not well-developed enough in its script and the acting wasn't exactly first-rate either though at times pretty funny. Not to be mistaken, this is not a horrible movie, and it has its moments, but its just not good either. Its worth watching once, but not an amazing film, has decent entertainment value, and is watchable to say the most. IMDb Rating: 5.3. My Rating: 7/10
Star Dane Cook should be shot and parboiled before he makes another movie. Other than that, EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH is a pretty funny slacker comedy about -- what else? -- a bunch of slackers who work in a Costco-like warehouse club. Cook's nemesis is the gold star-winner, arse-kissing Dax Shepard, who is funny as all getout here. They are vying for the hand of Jessica Simpson, who is the store's newest employee. They also decide to compete for some meaningless store prize, hence the title. The plot is as old as the hills and the slapstick is exactly what you'd expect, but Shepard and the rest of the supporting cast, including an almost unrecognizable Andy Dick, keep things rolling along. The talentless Cook thinks he's the new Bill Murray, I guess. He's not. He's so laid back, he might as well be unconscious throughout this trifle.
The movie Employee of the month is absolutely fantastic. I myself have been in retail for 19 years this movie pegs some of what employees go through on a day to day basis. Dane cook was awesome, Dax Shepard was great and so was Jessica Simpson. There couldn't have been a better cast of characters, they all played their rolls well. I'm addicted to this movie for the retail part of it and for the hilarious story line. Everyone needs to give it a chance especially if you've ever worked in a retail store. The more I watch it, the more I fall in love with this movie. Once again this movie deserves way more credit than what people are giving it. You probably won't understand so well if you have not ever worked in retail. I met my husband through my job at a retail store. This movie is definitely under rated.
This is a movie I truly enjoyed. I think that people who didn't enjoy it were looking for something that the movie wasn't supposed to present. This is a caricature movie- it is expected to be exaggerated. I watched this movie 3 times now and each time I found it amusing. What really made this movie work for me was that it was original. While there have been "workplace" movies like Office Space, this is the first I have seen about a big-box store. The story line was simple, the sexuality was kept to a minimum making it worth taking kids, and each character was one that we could all relate to. We have all had a slacker, a jerk, a bombshell, and "the guys" for fellow employees at work. Take this movie for what it is, and enjoy your popcorn with it.
This is one of those weird movies that I know isn't very good but I find myself going back to it and regularly enjoying it. It's pretty much nothing, really. Guy working at a Sam's Club/Costco knock off and his crazy day to day stuff as he goes from slacker to eponymous employee of the month. It's funny, it's goofy, I like it in a background noise capacity. Helps me ignore some of the extra bad stuff in this, cause that is definitely there too.
