A coming-of-age story in the John Hughes tradition. Mike Drinkwater is lost. His father, Hank, is hardly the role model Mike deserves. A young woman moves to town, and their friendship gives them the courage to overcome their challenges.

I really liked this movie. Story of the underdog who makes good! Beautiful scenery in Canada's Penticton, BC. I loved the comment to Wesley at the end of the movie about going to Winnipeg and the winters. A little dig as she is actually from Winnipeg! I love the fact that most of the "stars" are in fact Canadians. I thought the actors who were in grade 12 did look appropriate for their ages. Hank was perhaps a little too offbeat but likeable. The lead fella,Mike, is very loveable. I love the way this movie follows through with Mike's growth as a human being. I would watch this movie again. Music in this movie was great!
