So is this movie going to win Best Picture? No. But you can certainly sit through worse (I have!) The story is kind of ridiculous, but the lead actor is adorable and charming. Fun to watch things develop with the female characters, even if they are predictable. And then there's John Cleese, who as far as I'm concerned would be funny reading medical bills. Throw in some shots of Jake's fabulous ass, and you've got a pleasantly entertaining way to spend an hour and a half.
Ordinary film. John Cleese would be wiping this from his resume ! The only plus would be for international viewers with some of the scenery. The fact he's meant to be walking from Margaret River to Broome, and passes through Dardanup, a fair way off track just like the direction of the movie.
Who rate low this movie are either haters or people who like garbage. It is not just a comedy. It also bring in prospective life and show one side of this reality where untill we get stuck in our life we may don't realise how the people who we think we love, they may end up being those who are negatively influencing our life great story ;-),great soud, great great great!
This Rom-Com Tele-Port's this baby boomer back to the beaches of Northern NSW, schools over & we are on a 2 week surfing safari (pun intended). The Naked Wanderer reminds me of that pre-mobile phone era, before diary, no job & dwindling savings as we chased waves in the day and nurtured relationships under the stars. Instead of camels we rode horses, snakes we dodged and instead of lost cars we had camper vans blow a ram rod in between towns. This movie is a very pleasant (teary at times, happy tears that is) walk down memory lane. Long live the road trip romance! Oh & Great to see a whole movie with NO CGI ! It's heartwarming .
It is a treat when John is on screen and so excellent seeing him back on the big screen playing himself, lol, an angry old guy that seems to never get what he wants despite his fortune! So much more than a cameo and he adds some weight, to an excellent film that I think will be loved by audiences anywhere in the world. Special mention to the character Eli who was easily best of the rest and such a smart quick wit that led to plenty of good laughs.
I didn't expect a whole lot from this movie but when a movie makes me laugh and keeps me invested start to finish that movie has done it's job.
How amazing is seeing such a diverse cast taking Australian romantic comedy forward! The ex-girlfriend was hilarious, the best breakup scene in ages. Mr King's assistant had such poise but nailed the timing to set up some great laughs. Natasha and Angus had great chemistry too. Some of the music was a little odd at times but other than that thoroghly enjoyed this journey across the outback, and plenty of coast line!
Saw The Naked Wanderer at Hoyts Eastland (Ringwood, Victoria) last night (7 September 2019) and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a fabulous showcase of Western Australia and quite humorous. A great cast with a plenty of newbies and demonstrates the goodwill of the typical Aussie with a broken heart finding love on his naked journey.. highly recommend for a great nights entertainment..
Lucky enough to attend the World Premiere and absolutely loved seeing true Aussie humour come back to our screens. The scenery is amazing, jokes were abundant and the casting was spot on. Can't believe how much of the film John Cleese was in too, he is hilarious! Make the effort to see it with a crowd and share in the love and laughter that The Naked Wanderer serves up.
