Professor Robin Shattock, from the Department of Infectious Diseases at Imperial College London, addresses public concerns over the safety of COVID-19 vaccines in a wide-ranging interview. He answers some of the concerns associated with COVID-19 vaccines, such as worries about long-term side effects, and outlined why it is important for people to take up the opportunity to be vaccinated.

This special lecture was recorded for second year undergraduates studying immunology. In it, we consider aspects of the immune response that detect and respond to the virus, immunopathology, the prospects for long-term immunity following infection and the vaccine development landscape.
