Avoid (not even worth writing more than this). Pointless.
I am not gonna write alot .... . . .this movie sucks .... . . End .
An absolutely awful and creepy fictitious love story rather than the circumstances surrounding the disaster is at the center of this movie. Bad acting, a confusing story (or rather stories) with propagandist elements and no feeling of the impact of the disaster. It feels like a generic hero movie.
Nothing more nothing less. Effects were ok but the plot had no points to be made as no scenes were a part of story completion. Just a never ending love story in the middle of a disaster. Going to watch HBO again to feel better....
Move is way to far from reality, logic and history. It's some Ru product for locals. Why to make move about historical event that is shocking enough, and make it some illogical, and nothing related to reality? No any scene that even look like real Chernobyl. Only thing that this move based on it's the explosion as a main axis that's all.
A modern entry in the time-honoured tradition of classic disaster movies, from The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno through to Titanic and 9/11 movies. The hero is a flawed character who seeks to recreate the past with his old flame a la Jay Gatsby. The Chernobyl disaster disrupts his campaign and forces him to confront his moral shortcomings. Soviet-era incompetence is not whitewashed and at one point a character is sent to Switzerland for medical treatment because, as Aleksey the fireman admits, "Their doctors are better than ours." All in all, an intriguing look by Russians at one of their country's most horrendous failures.
I am not going to compare it with the HBO series. Taking the movie as it is, it's horribly bad, from so many points of view. Plot, layout, historical accuracy, characters and so on. It's all a big cliche of a movie that fails to deliver the message that the director really wanted to send. The movie makes you feel nothing, not only about the main characters but also about the whole Chernobyl disaster. How can you take such a horrible event and transform it in to a boring story that makes you feel nothing. If you want to watch it, know you'll waste your time. This movie has NOTHING to offer.
Calling this a movie and putting it in the same category would insult every other great masterpiece there is. So I'll refer to it as "thing" and "abomination". This thing is one of the worst humans has ever produce. Lowest point of our existence. Nothing shall ever be worse, nothing shall ever be lower. This abomination should be deleted from existence, all copies destroyed, every human who has done the mistake of opening their eyes against this thing should be rehabilated to overcome this trauma.
Shortly after the gritty and realistic, highly acclaimed BBC television TV mini series Russia's Government announced that it's country should have created the adaptation or depiction of the events surrounding Chernobyl. It should not and this movie is why it should not. With an incident as serious as Chernobyl, people want the truth. They aren't going to be eating popcorn. They don't want action and hero's and some funk'd up version of events. This is an awful movie that has absolutely no respect or regard for the many thousands of victims of Chernobyl, their story or their suffering. It shows utter contempt for Russia's own fellow countrymen.
Didn't finish it. Fast forwarded from 30 min. To the end. Pure crap :/ Not sure what story this movie tries to tell. But it's boring.
