Talk about your LEGALLY BLONDE rip-offs; without the university. Simpson is not Elle Wood, and the "dumb gorgeous blonde" scenario has gotten old-school; you could literally vomit. As said on American IDOL: Do not toy with an original; there are no copycats. Jessica Simpson cannot act to save her self. And her obvious looks do not fool anyone. She should stick to modeling and commercials. And pity Luke Wilson. His obvious talent has come twofold. And while he "redeemed" Elle Woods in LEGALLY BLONDE, they attempted to copycat that here, and it failed. Unlike Reese Witherspoon, he has no chemistry with Simpson. weak script - weak plot - weak portrayal - weak outlay
I saw this movie on the internet, and it was nothing but a waste of time and money. Jessica Simpson is a terrible actress and her recent music records have failed. Since divorcing, she has pretty much nothing, very little talent. And she must love showing off her dark roots. The movie is about a small town girl, Katie, moving to New York City to surprise her boyfriend. Only to find out he's cheating on her. She stays with her friend and gets a secretarial job because the vice president of the company wants the president to fail, so she can take over. Katie makes mistakes, but everything always turns out OK and she must help her boss save his job. Luke Wilson, plays Ben, the romantic interests who basically does nothing. There was nothing funny nor even amusing about this movie. It was boring with a terrible script. I know why it's going straight to DVD. FINAL VERDICT: It stars Jessica Simpson. Need I say more. A complete and total bomb.
I don't think it was that bad. People have slated this film SO much yeah it has Jessica Simpson in but she has improved quite a bit from the dukes of hazard and she seems more believable as a character and actress. I didn't think it was boring it thought it had its funny moments and overall a good chick flick for men and women. Don't base your views on what other people think because everyone has different opinions to what they think is a good film. Luke Wilson was also quite good in this film and the chemistry between him and Jessica was quite good you especially feel it during the pizza seen which is also pretty funny.
This is an embarrassment to everyone and everything used in making this joke. I personally don't care one way or another about Jessica Simpson and her talent or whatever so many people find fascinating about her. Just as a movie this is something that wouldn't even get a passing grade in film school. The script is a mess, the acting is atrocious, and the fact Luke Wilson (co-writer of "Bottle Rocket") did this makes me wonder what the hell he was thinking. He did "Old School" for crying out loud! This doesn't even belong in the same state as my "Old School" DVD! Please for whatever reason DO NOT WATCH THIS! I see there is a comment that this is so bad it's good, but that frankly is too kind. When will we stop seeing singers that obviously can't act keep trying to, I hope ends soon. The worst part is that there are actually some decent actors (Penelope Ann Miller, Rachel Leigh Cook, & Luke Wilson) who are part of this dump. As far as the plot, well it is almost non-existent and so poorly done and written (yes I know it's another rehash) I very much doubt anyone will remember anything about this. Please whatever you do don't waste your time, but if you do, feel sorry for the ACTUAL actors involved for wasting their time doing this bomb. Jessica Simpson you're pretty, but stick to singing, although I'm not much a fan of that either. And whoever did this film, I wouldn't put this on your resume. 1/10 because you can't give a zero.
Ahh this film had so much potential! A good cast of quality B actors, the thighs of Jessica Simpson and... that is about it! I believe some guy in some unnamed marketing department had an idea. Basically, lets do a kind of Legally Blond film, but do it in New York. That big bright city of chances, power and money and where everyone is a heartless, power/money hungry person. Let's add to this Jessica Simpson, small town bimbo, that brother of Owen Wilson and for some no apparent reason Andy Dick (only because of him you should ignore this film). Basic story line: Boy leaves girl for NY, girl follows, boy cheats, girl stays in NY with cousin, gets a job under false pretenses, mucks up, is courted by other boy (Brother Wilson) and together save the day and kiss. a few words come to mind when reflecting upon this film, i.e. dire, awful, unbearable, intolerable and xenophobic Just don't watch this film, you will be happier. One reviewer referred to Guantanamo and i definitely agree with him. This film induces shock. And I know what you are thinking... at least at some point will I see Simpson naked or close too. It's not gonna happen, spare yourself the time and YouTube her. You will have better sexy time! The films editing is flimsy, the acting is unbearable, and why do they use blue screens? In conclusion; this is cinematic treason which should be punished to the maximum Another question why does Willie Nelson always play a kind of father figure in almost every Jessica Simpson flick and why are there no black, Latin, Asian or European people in this movie?
I'm sorry but this movie is not as bad as most people are making it out to be. It has an excellent cast, and it's a nice little story. The story isn't a very uncommon story, though, still good. Jessica Simpson is actually an OK actress and many of her goofy scenes actually put a smile on my face. Also, as mentioned, it was a great cast. Luke Wilson, Andy Dick, Rachel Liegh Cook, Larry Miller... jeez I could keep going. But don't read what all the people here are saying. If you look around IMDb you'll see that it's usually the same people over and over who are constantly dissing movies. Watch and judge for yourself!!!!!!!
By now you should already know about this film, the Jessica Simpson "bomb" that pretty much went straight to video (limited, anemic theatrical run). Basically, Ms. Simpson's Katie travels from a small town in Oklahoma to visit her boyfriend, to surprise him, only to find him in bed with another woman. She is stranded, but has one friend (Rachel Leigh Cook, whom I wish we saw more often in film), who lets her stay. Katie ends up getting a job via two conniving co-workers (Penelope Ann Miller and the always amusing Andy Dick) who are just using Katie to get the president of the firm (Larry Miller) ousted. This is strictly a b movie, its not meant to be profound. Jessica Simpson is not a great actress by any means, but she is pretty much beautiful and never truly annoying. The film is watchable in that its not an abomination, but its throwaway fluff. In a cameo, Penny Marshall is funny (a subtle in-joke about Milwaukee made me chuckle), and there is a funny scene involving Norwegian priests (don't read too much into this). So, not horrible, but easy to skip. Your safe bet is to watch it on television if it ever does. Again, not good, but not a profound disaster.
Calling Blonde Ambition an awful movie, is beyond the actual content of the film. The movie was quite enjoyable and good. Mrs. Simpson's performance was not perfect but neither is most of Hollywood's A-list Actresses. She did a good job, considering it was her first time as the lead. I also note, that her chemistry with co-star Luke Wilson was very high. But as good as the movie was on my views, don't expect Oscar winning material from this. The movie had an exceptional plot without any plot holes. (DON'T READ ON IF YOU DON'T WANT TO...SPOILERS) The story started with Simpson saying good-bye to her high school sweet heart(Drew Fuller) at a bus stop. Fuller is going to New York City to pursue his dream of being a model. Simpson is struck with sadness. It is later revealed that Simpson is engaged to Fuller. Realising the sadness of her grand-daughter, Simpson's grandfather (Leslie Nelson) gives her a plane ticket to see her lover on Valentine's Day. As soon as she get's there she finds out he's cheating on her. She cries to her cousin (Rachel Leigh Cook), who encourages her to stay in New York and find a job. Simpson then goes through small adventures as she lands a job at a big company. There she meets a handsome man (Luke Wilson) who seems to fall in love with her. The story then goes on to Simpson trying to keep her job as the Vice President (Penelope Ann Miller) of the company and her assistant (Andy Dick) try to confuse and use Simpson to get the President (Larry Miller) of the company fired. All in all the film was very good and enjoyable. Since the movie will not come out in theaters, the film would be a very good rental and an excellent buy. 8 out of 10 stars.
