"Bad Blood" begins as a romantic drama with Lauren Baker in the process of making a decision whether or not to become engaged to the local sheriff, Garret Church. But before she can make up her mind, she is implicated in murder and subsequently held hostage by a blood-sucking villain. The villain is Oscar Marcus, a modern-day Dr. Frankenstein, who is seeking the perfect match for a marrow transfusion that may save his life. Marcus will stop at nothing to keep Lauren captive because he knows they have a nearly perfect DNA match. Marcus is playing a very dangerous match game. The screenplay was well-crafted, and the action was fast-paced with a variety of locations and intriguing characters. The most interesting relationship was that of Lauren and her wayward father, Ray. As a teen, Lauren spent time in the Garfield Juvenile Detention Center after she was enlisted in a failed carjacking scheme by her dad. Ray now knows that his daughter is in trouble, and he wants to make amends. Another well-developed character was the forensic pathologist, Tommy Bates. While she joked about her name being related to the Bates Motel, she was in fact a perceptive investigator, putting the sheriff to shame by recognizing that Lauren was being set up. Bates is one of the key players to eventually come to Lauren's aid. There was an effective symmetry to the film with a denouement that included a brief meeting of Sheriff Church and Lauren. To put it mildly, a sense of trust had been broken when Church adamantly believed that Lauren had committed murder. The savvy Lauren therefore decides that she needs some time before they open a new chapter in the story of their personal relationship.
All I can say is I hope Lauren does not take dumb clueless sheriff church back after how he treated her!!!
A clever plot, but not original. Taylor Cole is aluring in an oxymoronically aloof way. Very poorly directed or edited but a worthwhile watch.
Was this some sort of LifeTime movie? Badly scripted, predictable, and not very interesting. I mean in this day in age movies just need to be better. Let's generously give it a 4/10.
As a TV movie/thriller of the week, I guess this can pass through. Then again, the question is, what are you looking for? There is a nice twist, that I didn't really think about much, but I also didn't really invest much time thinking about anything while watching this. Taylor Cole is holding her own, but there is not really much she can work off here (not counting all the coincidences and what not that put her into a tough spot, she has to get out of). Kober has a nice little role, but overall it's just flowing along nicely. While it has some scenes of violence/graphic depiction, this does not feature too much violence. It tries to stay on the suspense path. You have to decide if it is enough
