(كودي بروير) يعمل صياد في نيو إنجلاند، لكنه لا يستطيع العيش بصورة جيدة هو وأسرته حيث تشعر زوجته بالملل والإهمال ويتعرض ابنه لمضايقات في مدرسته باستمرار، فيحدث ما لم يكن يتوقعه (كودي) أثناء قيامه بمهام عمله، حيث يعثر على طحلب أخضر غريب يملك بداخله قوة سحرية عجيبة تُغير من حياة العائلة.
