🥊 FIGHT DESCRIPTION: Gervonta Davis’ left uppercut to Ryan Garcia didn’t appear to have an immediate impact. Garcia stayed upright at first and took a few steps back. Moments later, he dropped to his right knee, bringing an abrupt end to the highly anticipated lightweight clash at 1:44 of the seventh round. “I didn’t think that body shot would finish it, but when I saw his reaction, that’s when I pressed him,” Davis said. “It was a clean shot. I expected him to get back up, but I like playing mind games—when he looked at me, I stared right back as if to say, ‘Get up.’ He just shook his head ‘No.’” With the win, Davis improved to 29-0, with all but two victories coming by knockout. It also marked the first loss of Garcia’s career, who had scored knockouts in 19 of his first 23 wins.
